Payroll Committee: Home Study Payment Error Resolved

Fellow Pilots,

The union identified an error with the payment of home study courses in 2021, only affecting pilots who were furloughed. To remedy the situation, the company has agreed to pay 3 hours of home study pay at the relevant CBT rate in February 2021 ($35 for FOs) to make these pilots whole. If you were sent this email, you are receiving the payment which was made on December 31st.

If you are no longer employed here and you do not receive the payment, I would advise you reach out to payroll_dept@allegiantair.com for assistance.  If any further help is needed, please contact me.

Thank you,

Greg Harris

Allegiant Pilots Association Local 2118 Payroll Chairman

Scheduling Committee Update: 12-31-24

As we end the year 2024, we’d like to share a few tips, reminders, and suggestions regarding bidding.

Please remember to place the days you would like to work 1st on your bid.  Whether using the monthly or global list for bidding, we continue to have some pilots wonder why they’re working on a certain day when they bid for it off.  The solver’s priority is to build your schedule and get you into the credit window. If you don’t give it enough days to work with, it will rerun your bid and bypass day off requests.

Plan and bid for a high-value line. Extend your planned work days a few days past your high-value line target.  Also, keep an eye on your FAR limits (easiest in monthly view) since the solver only allows you to bid up to 96 PCH in a 28-day period.

Whether you email or call us, please include your name, seniority number, base, and phone number as all of this information will greatly assist us and speed up the research process.

Lastly, we were made aware of open trips and RAPs not populating properly in open time.  We’ve worked with the company to get the issue resolved.  If any pilots notice this issue again, please alert us so we can get it resolved quickly.

Thank you and cheers to a Happy New Year!

ProStandards Committee Update: 12/31/24

Your Professional Standards Committee has seen a very busy and productive 2024!  We’ve added five new committee members with the goal of assisting our pilots more broadly,  amid the many challenges we face.

Chief Pilot Referrals

This past year we’ve seen an increased amount of Chief Pilot referrals. What this means for our Pilot group is, instead of Section 18 meetings, the Chief Pilots have the option to refer cases to the ProStandards Committee.  Once referred, and accepted by APA 2118,  the company can no longer discipline or discuss said issue with the Pilot – so long as the ProStandards Committee is able to find a success resolution (refer ProStandards LOA). The Chief Pilot Referrals help our pilots avoid needless disciplinary hearings and ultimately provide better resolutions. This positive trend requires a commitment of respect and trust among the Chief Pilot Office and your ProStandards Committee.

Fatigue Reports

The Safety Committee has enlisted our help in resolving Fatigue Reports.  Essentially, fatigue calls may be either accepted or rejected by the Review Board but require follow up.  If follow-up is needed, the designated ProStandards representative will make the call.  This new procedure allows our Union to first address any abnormalities with fatigue reports, instead of the company – even if they are rejected.

ProStandards Instructor Committee

Our new Prostandards Instructor Committee is up and running and exists for any Check Airman or Instructor pilots who may require assistance. We recognize that pilots involved in our training department may require a different approach than one used for line pilots. With this is in mind. we have added pilots who are specifically trained in this area and now able to help those requiring assistance.   Any Check Airman or Instructor Pilots having issues should reach out to the ProStandards Committee with any questions or concerns.

A goal of the ProStandards Committee has always been to find ways to best serve our Pilot group while staying true to our core mission. With your support and trust,  we aim to continue that trend in to 2025.

Fraternally,

Your Professional Standards Committee

Allegiant Pilots Association Launches Companion Website in its Fight for a Contract

As the Allegiant Pilots continue their demand for an amended contract, the Allegiant Pilots Association (Teamsters Local 2118) has launched an additional informational website that details where negotiations stand and the roadblocks the company continues to present to stall the negotiations process.

The site, which can be found at www.allegiantpilotstrike.com is broken up into sections, one of which features a clock counting down the number of days without an amended contract, and another that point blank explains Allegiant Managements unacceptable tactics.   A fair and competitive, industry-standard contract is crucial to both pilots and the company. Without, Allegiant Air will not be able to attract and retain experienced pilots.  Allegiant’s current ask for scheduling concessions to help offset pay increases is a non-starter.

Without a contract in place that values our profession, pilots may have no choice but to seek employment elsewhere and are prepared to strike if released from the mediation process.  Allegiant Air continues to refuse to meet and negotiate outside of mediation, further stalling opportunities for a resolution to the pilots nearly 4-year  dispute.

63 Pilots Hold Informational Picket at SFB Airport Near Orlando

Sanford, FL (December 11, 2024) – 63 pilots gathered in front of the Sanford – Orlando International Airport on Wednesday, December 11, for an informational picket to continue to put pressure on the airline for a fair, equitable contract.  The pilots have been without an amended contract for nearly four years and demand better pay in line with what other pilots earn across the country.  Although Allegiant Air will tell you it offered a contract that includes a 50% pay increase for pilots, it also comes with concessions in other areas such as seniority, scheduling and work rules.   The Allegiant Pilots Association refuses to accept these concessions as they impede upon their quality of life.  These concessions also breed a toxic work culture by demoralizing our pilots.  Currently, Allegiant Air pilots are some of the most underpaid in the industry.

In October, the pilots voted nearly unanimously (97.4%) to strike and are ready to do so if approved in the mediation process with Allegiant Air.  A strike would disrupt routes and cause considerable cancellations and other delays for passengers.

“We’re not being unreasonable – we just want to be treated the same as every other pilot in America,” said Captain Aaron Adrian, an Allegiant Teamsters pilot with Local 2118.

100 Pilots Picket Outside St. Pete-Clearwater Airport

CLEARWATER, FL (December 10, 2024) – 100 Allegiant Air pilots picketed outside the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport on December 10 as they continue to demand a fair, equitable contract from Allegiant Air.  Since 2021, the Allegiant Pilots Association has been working without an amended contract.   Although Allegiant Air has offered a proposed amended contract, it still does not give pilots industry-standard pay and asks for concessions in other areas including scheduling, seniority, and work rules.   Allegiant Air pilots are currently the most underpaid in the industry.

The pilots voted nearly unanimously (97.4%) to strike and are ready to do so if approved in the mediation process with Allegiant Air, if contract negotiations fail.  A strike would disrupt routes and cause considerable cancellations and other delays in passenger flights.

“We’re not being unreasonable – we just want to be treated the same as every other pilot in America,” said Captain Aaron Adrian, an Allegiant Teamsters pilot with Local 2118. “We’re here today to show Allegiant just how serious we are.”
