2025 Q3 SPC Committee Update

Strategic Preparedness Committee – Q3 Update

The SPC continues to build momentum as we head toward the Nationwide Informational Picket on November 18. After five years without an amended contract, Allegiant pilots have made it clear: we have no confidence in management. Reckless financial decisions, broken promises, and delay tactics have only strengthened our resolve. We are standing together to demand real leadership, accountability, and a stable future.

This is our contract. This is our career. This is our time. Buckle up, Allegiant.

In the lead-up to the picket, SPC hosted successful base events at DSM (October 29) and PGD (November 4), with strong turnout and support from the Negotiating Committee. These events continue to demonstrate the unity and strength of our pilot group.

Our next round of SPC base visits will resume in early December, following the picket. Until then, our full focus is on making November 18 a powerful success. Every pilot’s participation sends a clear message: we are united and committed to securing the fair contract we deserve.

Thank you for your continued engagement and solidarity.

2025 Q3 Peer2Peer / CIRP Committee Update

CIRP NEWS

It’s been a busy year for our CIRP Volunteers!

We are actively supporting our line pilots through some challenging circumstance. While we cannot breach confidentiality and share specifics, we are pleased to share that we have helped dozens of crews navigate some emotion filled circumstances this year. We sometimes get notice through the proper company channels, but mostly we hear about it from our safety people and diligent pilots like yourself.

We know we aren’t getting every event worthy of support. We encourage you to email CIRP@apa2118.org if something in your base warrants our attention. The most likely event would be a systems failure that necessitates a diversion or a significant passenger disturbance that might garner media attention or require pilot intervention. Pretty much anything that you hear of from the news should be brought to our attention and that of our Union Safety Department Safety@apa2118.org.

It’s been busy on the peer support side too!

We are actively working to establish a formal peer support program (Peer 2 Peer). While we have the framework in mind, we need to hear specifics of what you, the line pilot, need support with! We feel our backgrounds and CIRP training give us a tremendous head start in supporting you. We have tailored training in mind for our volunteers and a few Peer 2 Peer specific volunteers. To that end, please email us at CIRP@apa2118.org with any areas you feel our crews might need more support on. We are targeting family dynamics and past traumas presently.

Our Volunteers are getting the tools they need to support you!

On October 28th, we have five pilots headed to GoTeam Training in Houston alongside United Mechanics Teamsters. This past August, Liana Hart and Gerry Merk attended Peer Support Training alongside Atlas Air pilots in Cincinnati, Ohio. In July, we had three pilots trained in group Critical Incident Response. Back in May, we had four volunteers accompany APA 2118 Safety Committee Chairman, Shawn Rials in GoTeam Basic Training. We have met for monthly zoom calls to provide ongoing training and support since August. Additionally, we redesigned our interview process to provide insights into the program and an initial training to facilitate a more direct line of support immediately following the interview process.

We are proud to introduce our newest members! They went through a lengthy vetting process and we are proud to include them in our team and provide them training to meet our pilots needs.

Chris Crotzer (VPS-A320 FO): is a 28 year former Army aviation veteran, from Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a BS in Industrial Engineering.  Chris is married to his wife of 30 years with six children and three grandchildren.

Sam Seidman (SFB-B737FO): UND Alumni, bass trombone performer, and travel enthusiast. While from Los Angeles, he calls Florida home following stays in Flint and Grand Forks. Sam was an early Accelerate Pathway pilot coming from UND’s flight instructor ranks.

Adam Smith (PIT-A320CA): Marine Corps airport firefighting veteran, high school woodshop teacher, business owner, 25 year flying and airplane mechanic. Adam is a father, aircraft owner, and just began his ninth year as an Allegiant pilot. Adam is a Pittsburgh native and sports fan.

Dan Spykerman (SAV-A320 FO): Marine Corps F/A-18 Reservist with an Aviation Maintenance degree and safety department leadership background. Dan is a husband of 11 years and father of two. He is guided by a strong christian faith and a belief in the strength of a humans ability to overcome adversity.

Annie Targosz (GRR-A320 FO): a Western Michigan graduate and a Chicago native, Annie now calls Grand Rapids home. She is a first time 121 pilot after completing the WMU Accelerate Program and nearly three years flight instructing. Annie is a strong aviation mental health advocate,  comes from a family of pilots and has been at Allegiant almost two years.

We also, want to take a moment to recognize our own volunteer, Lauren Scott, and her recognition as Professional Woman Pilot of the year by the Las Vegas Chapter of the Ninety-Nines. She was interviewed by Fox 5 in Las Vegas on August 29 following this award and NPR on July 18 following her winning the Women’s Air Race Classic. Lauren has been a standout volunteer on our CIRP and Peer Support Committee since May. Way to go Lauren!!!

Finally, we updated our committee page with FAQ’s. Most notably, we speak to when one reach out for assistance and when we might reach out to you. We also talk to the nuanced difference between peer support and CIRP (yes, they are both led by pilot peers and supportive).

2025 Q3 Jumpseat Committee Update

Jumpseat Committee members recently attended the National Jumpseat Conference. Jumpseat committees from nearly every US carrier, and several Canadian airlines, were represented.

The main theme of the conference was jumpseat security. The more senior among us may remember that after the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, the government stopped and sought to permanently end, jumpseat privileges for airline pilots. These privileges were restored only after heavy lobbying by pilot unions in conjunction with airline management, who realized that when pilots can’t use the jumpseat it severely affects their operation.

The Jumpseat Conference’s main focus was on aviation security. There have been several threats that have been mitigated or stopped by alert flight crews and law enforcement in recent months. It is important to remain vigilant and to ensure that the person presenting him or herself as a pilot, asking to ride your jumpseat or even use a seat in the cabin, has the appropriate credentials proving that he or she is current and qualified to “operate a flight across a route.” Credential verification is important even if the jumpseater has been assigned a cabin seat. The Captain is responsible for all crew, including ACMs (additional crew members), who are considered crew members regardless of their location on the aircraft. Document verification is always required.

The secondary focus of the conferece was maintaining and protecting jumpseat privileges and agreements, which both pilots and management have realized are vital to the aviation profession. In order for us to maintain our reciprocal agreements with other carriers we need to ensure that OAL (Other Air Line) pilots are not left behind. To ensure that this does not happen, we must get into the habit of checking the gate area every flight. If a gate agent has problems listing, or refuses to list a jumpseating pilot, call customer ops to ask for help. We have received several reports of pilots who have taken the initiative to assist pilots having difficulty with gate agents or listing. Polite and friendly insistence that a jumpseater be placed on the aircraft does not go unnoticed. Most commuting pilots at other airlines will tell you that Allegiant is their first choice because of the efforts made by this pilot group and the welcoming nature of our crews.

Etiquette, as always, was an additional topic of discussion. When jumpseating on another carrier, always present your credentials to the cockpit crew and *ask* for a ride. Many crews won’t ask for your ID if you are assigned a seat in the cabin, but you should always be prepared

to present them. Beards are still prohibited on the flight decks of most US carriers. If you have a beard, don’t expect another airline’s crew to disregard their procedures to allow you ride the jumpseat. Business casual attire or your uniform is still standard for a person riding the actual jumpseat. Be sure to check the Directory for all specifics on attire and requirements before attempting to jumpseat.

As a general reminder, OAL jumpseats are not to be used for company business. They are intended to only be used for personal business and commuting, and all reciprocal agreements strictly prohibit the use of other company’s jumpseats for any company business.

In closing, we are happy to announce two new reciprocal jumpseat partners: 21Air and Ryan Air Alaska. Both agreements and their listing directions have been added to the Jumpseat Directory on the 2118 website.

Please reach out to your Jumpseat Committee with any issues or questions. We are always happy to help!

Negotiating Committee Update – October 23, 2025

Fellow Pilots,

The Mediator, Union and Company had a scheduled in-person mediation session in Washington, D.C. from October 20-22, 2025. The mediator was not present due to the government shutdown. The parties agreed to meet without the mediator. The Negotiating Committee attended the meeting in-person with the company’s attorney and negotiating consultant. Unfortunately, management decided not to attend the negotiations in-person and chose to attend the meeting virtually instead.

These sessions produced no new agreements and the vast majority of each of the three in-person sessions were squandered due to the company’s lack of preparation and internal dysfunction. The company did not present a comprehensive counterproposal, informing the Union that it had failed to cost out the Union’s comprehensive proposal or any of the company’s previous proposals. Additionally, the company failed to pass Section 15 as the Union repeatedly urged the management to do. The primary focus for the first two sessions was the value and defer items in Section 9 – Vacation, Section 10 – Sick, and Section 16 – Reserve. The final day was spent discussing the remaining open items in Section 12 – Vacancies.

The company informed the Union that it would not be able to provide a comprehensive counterproposal until it could complete “accurate” costing, despite nearly 4.5 years of negotiations and nearly a two-month advance notice of these bargaining dates. Management has insisted that their internal costing “experts” are critical to bargaining discussions. However, the company’s costing personnel were not available to meet with the Union’s costing expert (who was present in DC for three days) until well into the final day of bargaining, and then only for one hour over Zoom.

On a somewhat positive note, it appears that management has accepted that delaying negotiations because it cannot properly cost out its own proposals or respond to ours is inexcusable. Management informed the Union during the last session that it will immediately retain an outside firm to handle their costing going forward. That decision speaks volumes. Without saying it outright, management has effectively confirmed what we’ve known all along. When they were attacking the Union’s costing, which is accurate and supported by verifiable data, they were trying to hide a basic truth: Allegiant’s claims simply have no basis in fact. While we are somewhat encouraged that they’ve finally sought outside help at this late stage of negotiations, it is a stunning indictment of their own internal process and the false propaganda campaign that Allegiant officials waged against our Union and your NC. Hopefully, a greater reliance on qualified third party contractors and consultants on the company’s part will expedite these negotiations.

The company has indicated that they will be ready to resume bargaining when we reconvene during the week of November 10, 2025. The Union remains singularly focused on reaching a fair agreement before year’s end. Despite the Company’s continued dysfunction, our team remains united, data-driven, and unwavering in its resolve to deliver a contract that reflects your value and professionalism.

Stay engaged, stay informed, and stay confident.

The facts and data are on our side — and so is our future.
