Our Work Continues

As you should expect, your Negotiating Committee has continued to work diligently behind the scenes, even without in-person bargaining activity. Our work largely focuses on the remaining open sections of our contract. This team will be fully prepared to pass the remaining open sections, in a reasonable and responsible order, after significant progress towards an agreement on Sections 14, 15, and 16 are achieved. As a reminder, these sections (or their equivalents) are typically the most difficult and contentious sections to negotiate in our industry. There’s a lot at stake in those three sections, especially surrounding the working conditions and quality of life for our pilot group. It’s important that we continue to do our best to get what you deserve in these sections.

Upcoming Virtual Meetings

This past Friday, the Company agreed to meet with us virtually today, Monday, July 29, to discuss our response pass to Section 14 – Hours of Service and Section 16 – Reserve. The mediator will be present virtually as well. To date, we have not received the Company’s response to Section 15 – Scheduling and the Preferential Bidding System (PBS) Letter of Agreement (LOA) which we passed at our last in-person bargaining session. We will inquire about the status of those sections during our meeting and attempt to have a date for a formal response.

Upcoming Base Visits

Our previous base visits have been largely successful and we appreciate the attendance and participation of those pilots who were present. Your Negotiating Committee will continue to participate in these visits to the extent that our negotiating schedule allows. Upcoming visits are tentatively scheduled for the first weeks of August. Locations, times, and other details will be shared when available.

Volunteerism is the primary driver of union operations. We wish to extend a special thank you to Captain Jesse Peek (AVL) for stepping up to the plate and leading the charge in organizing future base visits. His outstanding work and dedication thus far have already been invaluable assets to our committee and the union at-large. We encourage those individuals who wish to volunteer their time and talents to reach out to a base steward or other union leadership to register your interests.

Upcoming In-Person Bargaining Sessions

Our next mediated sessions are scheduled for August 13-15 in Columbus, Ohio. Additional sessions are scheduled for September 3-5 and October 29-31 with location details forthcoming.

Thank you to each and every one of our amazing pilots who have supported our committee and empowered us to negotiate, in earnest, on your behalf. Should any significant progress be made during our virtual meeting today, we will provide an update. Please remember that your support, unity, and solidarity will be the catalyst for this pilot group achieving the contract that we deserve. Our goal remains to deliver a fair agreement to our pilots, in the most expeditious way possible, for your consideration and vote. We continue to make ourselves available as often as possible to achieve that goal.
