Negotiating Update (9/23/2024)

Fellow Pilots,

Additional Mediation Session

The parties will meet for a one-day virtual mediated session on Tuesday, September 24. The company is expected to pass Section 14 – Hours of Service, Section 15 – Scheduling, Section 16 – Reserve, and the Preferential Bidding System (PBS) Letter of Agreement (LOA). Locations and dates for additional October sessions will be provided in a future update.

Direct Discussions With Management

Direct discussions with management regarding negotiations continue to be counterproductive and undermine the membership’s goals for this contract. These conversations will slow down progress at the bargaining table — they aren’t going to “take your ideas back”, or give them “something to think about.” Instead, they will use what you say against the pilot group and its Negotiating Committee. We must not allow management to undermine our negotiating efforts or delay progress. Your Union Negotiating Committee is the official voice of the pilot group – no agreements can or will be made between individual pilots and management. Management must bargain directly with this Union Negotiating Committee. Management can show their interest in the individual pilot by making industry-standard agreements with your Union.

Expectations and Closing Thoughts

After nearly four years of bargaining, CBA2016 has fallen behind major airlines in multiple categories. At this stage of negotiations, your Negotiating Committee will take minor, incremental steps by management as a lack of desire to achieve an agreement that is responsive to this pilot group.
