Negotiations Update for March 29, 2024

Dear Esteemed Pilots,

As previously communicated, we are pleased to present the weekly update from your 2118 Negotiating Committee.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all who participated in last night’s Town-hall. Your insightful questions underscore the importance of your ongoing input in securing the “Contract You Have Earned”. Rest assured that we will be diligently seeking input from every pilot to guide us in our negotiations.

We are excited to share some positive developments. In recognition of the progress made during last week’s mediation sessions, the National Mediation Board (NMB) has scheduled a virtual mediation session to discuss Section 25 (General) in the coming week. This is an encouraging indication that the pace of negotiations is gaining momentum. As a reminder, the role of the NMB is not to negotiate on behalf of either party. Rather, mediation is a process entered into by two parties, utilizing a neutral third party (the mediator), to foster a productive approach towards resolving outstanding items. The ultimate goal of mediation is to reach a stage in negotiations where the mediator(s) are no longer required, and the two parties can collaboratively arrive at an agreement.

Moving forward, the Local 2118 Negotiating Committee commits to maintaining regular communication with our pilots regarding the status of your negotiations. We strongly encourage active engagement with all your Union’s subject matter experts and representatives. Please share your ideas and opinions and provide feedback on our communications and progress. Look forward to a dedicated webpage on www.apa2118.org where you can access all negotiation-related information as part of our commitment to keeping you informed in real-time.

In conclusion, we wish to emphasize the critical importance of your engagement… it is the Pilots’ collective voice that matters most. When you show up, people listen.

In solidarity,

Your Local 2118 Negotiating Committee
