Trustee Update – October 6, 2024
Trustee Update (10/6)
October 7, 2024 by Allegiant Local 2118
Fellow Pilots,
Hurricane Helene
In the wake of the historic devastation of Hurricane Helene, we want to ensure that there is disaster relief available for our pilots who need it. There has been an outpouring of helping each other. We have donated $10,000 to jumpstart, a fundraising drive for the G4 Pilot Assistance fund and the fund has eliminated the waiting period for pilots impacted by Helene. Link here: https://g4paf.app.neoncrm.com/forms/helene.
The G4 Pilot Assistance Fund leadership has agreed to help manage applications for the Teamster Disaster Relief Fund, a separate fund provided through the IBT and Joint Counsel 42. After final approval of our paperwork this week, we will have the application forms available for assistance.
We have been working with our TWU Flight Attendant leadership to ensure we are helping where we can. Following are links for the GoFundMe pages set up for flight attendants who have faced significant hardships:
- Jodie Nelson: GoFundMe
- Emily Midkiff – G4 AVL Based Flight Attendant: GoFundMe
- Faith Jenkins: GoFundMe
- Gabriella Sanguedolce: Spot Fund
With yet another Hurricane aimed at Florida, please know we are here to advocate for you as the chaos of another storm is set to impact you. The Stewards have a much-improved internal process in Teams to collaborate and get you assistance ASAP. Email: Stewards@apa2118.com
Badge Backers
Your new Badge Backers were sent out Friday and include an Accident/Emergency Hotline. This number will have a live operator 24/7, 365 days a year. The operator will connect you with a union representative. Our new office phone system will have the same functionality this month through a prompt. You are urged to contact a representative before making any statements to the company or authority in case of an accident, incident, or emergency.
Social Media Policy
In anticipation of introducing our forum this month, a social media policy is enacted and attached HERE.
The policy covers our website forum and social media accounts set up by members for the use of members. With a lack of a constructive forum for dialog provided by your union, our pilot group resorted to creating varying and competing platforms to communicate with each other. None are official. The Facebook page, an official means of interaction and communication in the past, was a train wreck of a way to operate a Union Hall.
Allegiant Pilot History
January 13, 2015, Pilots from across the country participated in a picket at Allegiant Headquarters and McCarren International.
Fraternally,
Greg Unterseher, Trustee
