Trustee Update – September 9, 2024
Allegiant Pilots,
As you are aware, I brought disciplinary charges last month under the Teamsters Constitution against Andrew Robles, Ryan Fogelsanger, Joshua Rockwood, Kurt Hanson, Michael Cawley, and Kenneth Seiden (hereinafter, the “Charged Parties”) alleging embezzlement, racketeering, mismanagement, and retaliation. This communication is to update you on the status of those charges.
A hearing considering the charges was scheduled to take place early this week, on September 10 and 11. The Charged Parties have retained attorneys well-versed in criminal defense, however, and since early last week, rather than attempt to defend their conduct before an impartial tribunal, the Charged Parties, through their well-heeled attorneys, have repeatedly attempted to delay and derail the proceedings against them. In this connection, they first requested that the Independent Review Officer strip jurisdiction over this matter from an impartial tribunal of their Teamsters peers. The Independent Review Officer, a former federal judge, denied this request. Shortly thereafter, the Charged Parties sought to postpone the hearing on no fewer than three occasions. And yesterday, on the eve of the hearing, after being informed by one of the Charged Parties of an urgent medical situation, the Hearing Panel decided to do so.
The Hearing Panel agreed to postpone the hearing in the face of an emergency involving one of the Charged Parties. However, in doing so, the Hearing Panel strongly cautioned that it would not permit any gamesmanship by the Charged Parties to further delay or obstruct the proceedings. I anticipate that a new hearing will be scheduled in the next several weeks, and I will advise you of its date and location as soon as possible.
Fraternally,
Greg Unterseher, Trustee
