VPS Base Visit: Join Us Tuesday!

Allegiant Air Pilots:

Union representatives met with pilots at PIE, PGD and BNA last week. These base visits were a great opportunity to answer member questions, receive valuable input, talk about the progress of the trusteeship, how we are reorganizing our union for strength at the bargaining table and in representing pilots, and the importance of total pilot unity during contract negotiations. We have another base visit scheduled for VPS tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16.

Negotiating Committee Update

Your Union Negotiating Committee worked on Section 14 (Hours of Service) and Section 16 (Reserve) full language counterproposals last week. The Negotiating Committee continued its work today and will pass these proposals to management negotiators prior to scheduled mediation. As previously reported, the Company will respond to the Union’s Section 15 (Scheduling) proposal. The Union Negotiating Committee informed the Company that we are available to receive the Company’s response prior to the next round of mediation.

The Union is also working on Section 1 (Recognition and Scope) while waiting for the Company to provide previously requested information. Union scheduling subject matter experts have continued to test PBS solutions and our IBT economist and members of the Union Negotiating Committee met with management representatives on contract costing issues.

We will continue our work this month with a focus on achieving the membership’s bargaining priorities: compensation, quality of work life and job security improvements. You deserve significant improvements to the current contract. An improved contract is in the Company’s interest too, as it seeks to retain and recruit pilots and to grow its business. Our approach remains the same – work hard for the membership, work expeditiously, and don’t leave anything on the bargaining table. We will keep you posted on our work and all negotiating developments.
